About UsHola! Bonjour! Hello! Whatever the case may be welcome to my page! Thanks so much for dropping by along life's journey. First of all, I'd like to share a bit about myself for those who are visiting for the first time. Throughout life, I've always been quite the eccentric soul having been shaped by the many colorful experiences that I've encountered. This encompasses everything from my having grown up during the 70's and 80's in the only Black household of a then all white neighborhood of a quaint, coastal, southern town and the given name Heather to top it off. Additionally, I somehow managed to become trilingual albeit I was raised solely in the States by completely monolingual parents. Most recently, I found myself in an interracial dating relationship which later resulted in my marrying a wonderful Latino gentleman. While we are happily married, like all couples, we've faced our share of challenges, but thankfully far more blessings. The most coveted treasures of our union are our precious blended little boy and our eldest adopted son to whom this blog is dedicated. Having parents of such distinct backgrounds to include African American (Creole) and Salvadoran, absolutely nothing is commonplace about their lives, hence the name, "Nothingz Cliche!" Thus, this space has been created as a platform for the positive exchange of ideas related to couples raising multiracial, multilingual children, and elsewise blended familes in the 21st Century during which nothing seems taboo or cliche. Again, welcome!

Who We Are
|
Observing from the outside, we are a medly of swirls and hues of numerous differences. On the other hand, we're your average, American family which share common values of faith, hard work and servitude. I am an ESOL teacher and interpreter for immigrant families of all walks of life. I genuinely enjoy traveling, writing and DIY projects at home. Daniel, my husband, while a permanent resident of the States, is a native of El Salvador. He is indeed a testament of all that is good that could come from a turbulent childhood filled with war and profound poverty. Also, he is a loving father and a supportive spouse, and the chief editor of Spanish the blogs you'll find on this site. Furthermore, Daniel is an expert of masonry having constructed countless edices for both residential and business purposes. Our eldest son Jaime is maturing into a wonderful young man who has proven to be very hard working and family oriented. Master Wesley is without a doubt the biggest, little jewel of the team who knows no limits and sees no color. He's bright, witty and all boy! In short, we are humans simply sharing, but in no wise are we the experts.

Our History |
As the adage goes, "Best friends make the best lovers." Daniel and I met over a decade ago through mutual friends. We later formed a wonderful friendship which gradually matured into a formal romance. After dating for about four years, we became engaged and officially married in 2007. Embarking upon marriage as an interracial couple now with children has definitely been a continual learning experience in the best of ways for both of us.
